Piè di Colle

Piè di Colle is a winery that produces quality DOCG and IGP wines. It has about 10 hectares in the area of Civitella in Val di Chiana. The area has characteristics that foster the natural growth of our vines: the location, around 300 metres above sea level; the slight incline towards the south-east, unspoilt agricultural land, and well-balanced, medium-textured soils rich in nutrients.
The vines that are cultivated are Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot, all strictly Guyot-trained. This means low yields per hectare and manual selection at harvest time, ensuring that only healthy, undamaged grapes reach the cellar. These are necessary conditions when making an excellent wine.
The winery combines the tradition of Chianti with the development of winemaking methods. The maceration of the grapes takes place in cement barrels dating back to the 1970s, which have been suitably restored and equipped with a modern temperature control system. The longer or shorter maturation time depends on the type of wine that is produced. It takes place in steel barrels or in oak barrels located in a special room with temperature and humidity control.
