Maestà di Santa Luce is part of the Società Agricola Illuminati GMM, a fruit-growing company founded in 1987. The company covers about 200 hectares between Foiano della Chiana and Castiglion Fiorentino, producing apples, pears, peaches and plums.
The winery is located in Santa Luce, a picturesque spot surrounded by olive groves and vineyards in the Valdichiana. Maestà di Santa Luce dominates the hillside with over seven thousand vines per hectare of Syrah in the two vineyards, one planted in 2002 and the other in 2003.
Maestà di Santa Luce is as much a location as it is a logo of the entrepreneurial project that aims to link together Tuscan lands and traditions by producing high quality wine. The name “Maestà” brings to mind the votive aedicules (small shrines) dedicated to the Virgin Mary, which are all over Tuscany.
The producer’s main objective is to produce excellent wines, favouring quality over quantity. The Syrah that is produced, an IGT, is mainly destined for select restaurants and wine shops as well as enthusiasts of rare and excellent wines.
Agriturismo Sant’Angelo is within the property. It occupies an area of 1,000 square metres and features 11 flats furnished in the traditional Tuscan style and equipped with every modern comfort. The interiors of the flats are elegantly furnished like Tuscan country houses, with fine finishes such as terracotta floors, tiles and original wooden beams.
