Gabriele Mazzeschi

Gabriele Mazzeschi is a Tuscan organic farm that has eight hectares of vineyards planted with Sangiovese, Syrah, Trebbiano and Malvasia, with a small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo.
Five of these hectares are cultivated with spurred cordon vines, a form of vine training with a low yield per plant that guarantees high quality of production.
After the grapes are gently pressed, the alcoholic fermentation begins, thanks to natural yeasts. It then continues with malolactic fermentation, without the use of selected yeasts, enzymes or other oenological additives. The natural production “method” continues with wooden and concrete casks to achieve perfect wine maturation. Vinification takes place in the property’s own cellar where all wines are produced.
The winemaking tradition is only one part of the company’s value. Grains and olive groves have been growing from the rich soil for generations. The ancient Verna wheat variety is produced for its excellent organoleptic properties, and the fragrant extra virgin olive oil, with its fruity and slightly spicy flavour, encapsulates the true taste of Tuscany. There are about 5,000 olive trees on the farm. They are cultivated on gravel soil in the Tuscan hills, at an altitude of 350-450 metres above sea level. The olive trees are planted on terraces, and the typical Tuscan varieties are Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino. The olives are harvested by hand, pressed within 4 hours of picking, and the extra virgin olive oil is filtered immediately after pressing.
