Each establishment is assigned a main category from those used in the guide. Filters make the guide easier to explore, allowing visitors to browse places according to location, type of experience or characteristics of the offering. Listings are displayed in random order, with the sequence changing each time the page is reloaded.

They are not scores, rankings or quality ratings, but thematic indicators designed to make the guide easier to explore.

Price

Price indicates an approximate average cost per person for a standard meal. The classification is designed to help visitors make their choice and does not represent an assessment of quality, service or culinary standards. To ensure a consistent approach, the price range is assigned on the basis of information available at the time of review: menus published by the establishment, its official website, a dedicated landing page or, where necessary, recognised guides and specialist sources. Drinks and any additional charges are not included. Prices may vary depending on the time of year, the menu chosen, the dishes ordered, the availability of tasting menus or special offers, and subsequent price updates.

€ / up to approximately € 25

Guides

Indicates establishments featured in leading food and restaurant guides or recognised specialist sources, including the Michelin Guide, Gambero Rosso, Osterie d’Italia / Slow Food, L’Espresso, Identità Golose, 50 Top Italy, 50 Top Pizza, Il Golosario and other respected publications, associations or authoritative food and gastronomy sources. User reviews, ratings generated by booking websites, delivery platforms and commercial aggregators are not included in this category.

Tradition

Cuisine rooted in the flavours of Tuscany and Arezzo, local recipes and locally sourced ingredients. This category includes trattorias, osterias and restaurants with a recognisable local identity, expressed through traditional dishes or more contemporary interpretations of local cuisine. An establishment may be included when its menu is predominantly local, when it consistently offers several dishes rooted in Tuscan or Arezzo traditions, or when it clearly interprets the area’s products, recipes and culinary heritage. The occasional presence of one or two traditional dishes is not sufficient unless the overall offering has a clearly recognisable local character.

Gourmet

Contemporary, creative or chef-led cuisine, with particular attention to culinary research, technique, presentation and menu design. This category includes restaurants offering more sophisticated cuisine, tasting menus or dining experiences designed to showcase ingredients, seasonality and the chef’s personal interpretation. Classification takes into account the presence of tasting menus, creative or research-led cuisine, chefs with a distinctive culinary identity, fine dining or gastronomic bistro concepts, contemporary interpretations of local cuisine and inclusion in guides focused on creative and chef-led dining.

Wine selection

Indicates establishments with a particularly well-curated, extensive or specialised wine offering, with an emphasis on local wines, dedicated selections, natural wines, tastings or food-and-wine pairings. This category includes enoteche, wine bars, wine resorts and restaurants where wine plays an important role in the overall offering. Classification takes into account a substantial wine list, a strong focus on local wines, a clear wine-bar-with-food identity, a cellar highlighted by the establishment or an otherwise clearly identifiable wine selection.

Outdoor

Indicates establishments with outdoor spaces designed for lunch or dinner in the open air, including gardens, terraces, courtyards, dehors, loggias, outdoor tables or scenic spaces that form part of the setting. Classification is based on outdoor areas that are genuinely used for service. Availability may vary according to the season, weather conditions and the establishment’s service arrangements. The occasional presence of a few outdoor tables is not sufficient unless the outdoor space is clearly part of the establishment’s regular dining experience.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/12″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” background_animation=”none” css_animation=””][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”100px”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” background_animation=”none” css_animation=””][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”48429″ img_size=”full” onclick=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” text_align=”left” background_animation=”none” css_animation=””][vc_column][vc_raw_html]JTVCZmxleHlfYnJlYWRjcnVtYiU1RA==[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” text_align=”left” background_animation=”none” css_animation=””][vc_column width=”1/12″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”11/12″][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][vc_column_text] Selection and classification criteria [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” text_align=”left” background_animation=”none” css_animation=””][vc_column width=”1/12″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”10/12″][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]The guide offers an online selection…

["post-50715","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry

This broad category includes different types of restaurants, including those within hotels and other accommodation properties, as well as more informal or specialised venues, provided they offer a structured dining experience.

Informal, convivial places characterised by a direct style of hospitality, straightforward service and an accessible food offering. This category includes both traditional trattorias and osterias and places offering more personal interpretations of local cuisine.

Establishments offering both a regular restaurant menu and a clearly defined pizza selection. This category includes restaurants and pizzerias, as well as places where pizza plays a central role, provided that they offer a full dining experience rather than being limited to quick-service food.

Establishments with a particularly well-curated, extensive or specialised wine offering, with an emphasis on local wines, dedicated selections and natural wines. This category includes enoteche, wine bars, wine resorts and other establishments with a strong wine identity, where wine is accompanied by a regular food offering such as dishes, sharing boards, menus, tastings or food-and-wine pairings.

Restaurants located within hotels, relais, resorts or other accommodation properties, with a dining offer that is also open to outside guests and not reserved exclusively for those staying there. This filter highlights restaurants within accommodation settings where the food has a clear identity and can be a destination in its own right.

Establishments offering a recognisable selection of dishes, recipes or products rooted in the culinary traditions of Tuscany and Arezzo. The entire menu does not need to be traditional, but local cuisine should have a consistent and significant presence.

Establishments offering contemporary, creative or chef-led cuisine, characterised by culinary research and close attention to technique, presentation and menu design. This category includes restaurants with sophisticated cuisine, tasting menus or dining experiences shaped by seasonality, ingredients and the chef’s personal interpretation.

Establishments where meat, grilling, cooking over embers, steak, selected cuts or flame cooking form a recognisable and consistent part of the offering. This may include restaurants, trattorias and restaurants with pizza, provided that meat is a regular rather than occasional part of the menu.

Establishments offering several consistent and clearly identifiable vegetarian or vegan options, providing a genuine choice rather than just one or two marginal alternatives. This category includes fully vegetarian or vegan establishments as well as places that include a number of permanent plant-based dishes within a broader menu.

Establishments that complement their food offering with regular, bookable or clearly organised activities such as tastings, cooking classes, wine- or olive oil-related visits, workshops, themed dinners or experiences centred on local products. These activities must be connected with a regular food offering.

Establishments in natural, rural or scenic settings, such as the countryside, hills, gardens, estates, relais or places surrounded by the landscape. This category refers to the setting of the experience, not necessarily to the style of cuisine.

Meaning of the icons
