The magic of Christmas continues to be the protagonist of the weekend with the attractions of Arezzo City of Christmas: light installations, markets, Santa’s house, Ferris wheel and much more to live one of the most beautiful moments of the year.
In the weekend the territory of Arezzo also offers other opportunities to visit. Excursions in the nature, cultural events of music and theater, food and wine with tastings of new oil.
Arezzo City of Christmas, the program of the weekend
Until January 9, 2022, the calendar of “Arezzo City of Christmas” involves the entire historic center with a series of attractions and events that allow you to experience the magical atmosphere of this time of year. At the first shadows of the evening, the buildings of the historical center light up with luminous installations that offer an unusual reading of the architectures, accompanying the visitor in a fascinating and spectacular itinerary. In the large green area of the Prato, the large Ferris wheel offers a view that sweeps over the entire historic center, with the beauty of the landscape that changes during the hours of the day. For the youngest and not only, the “Christmas Brick Arezzo” the Christmas village made with the most famous bricks in the world: more than three hundred square meters of exhibition and workshops. Many opportunities for shopping, with the “Market of Wonders” of Prato rich in typical gastronomic products and many curiosities. In the nearby Piazza Grande, there is the Tyrolean Village, where exhibitors from Tyrol, Germany and Austria offer Christmas items and typical products. Here, the little ones are expected at the House of Santa Claus, set up in the Palace of Fraternity.
Traditional markets are also set up in Piazza San Jacopo and Piazza Risorgimento while in Piazza Guido Monaco there is a market of handmade arts.
Numerous special events are planned for this weekend. Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November, from 15.00 to 18.00 in the area of the Prato, comes the Minicirco, with traveling shows. Sunday 28th from 16.00 show with the flag-wavers of the Saracen Joust who perform their games of skill and acrobatics that have enchanted the world. Friday, Saturday and Sunday guided tours of the city accompanied in small groups by tour guides. Saturday, November 27 begins the calendar “Waiting for Christmas in the Fortress“, at 16.00 in program a workshop for children for the construction of the advent calendar, Sunday, November 28 at 11.00 and at 14.30, guided tours to learn about the Fortress and its history.

Fair of Saint Catherine and of the Scaldino with the Whistle
Appointment from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 November in Monte San Savino with the Fair of Saint Catherine, one of the oldest fairs in the province of Arezzo, which offers a large market and a series of side events. The fair is also called the fair of the “Scaldino con il Fischio” and it reminds us of the past, when the artisans of Monte San Savino, the home of ceramics, used to sell the “scaldino”, a kind of vase used to contain the embers of the fire that had to be kept lit for the night.

Weekend concerts
Saturday, November 27th at 9:30 p.m., a new appointment with “Materiali in Scena” at the Municipal Theater of Cavriglia. The protagonist is Bobo Rondelli‘s songwriting in the show “Cos’hai da guardare”. Accompanied by Claudio Laucci on the piano, the artist from Livorno will perform his new album “Cuore libero”, his best known songs and his autobiography “Cos’hai da guardare”, recently published by Mondadori.

Outdoor Experience, itineraries in the nature
The appointments of the Outdoor Experience calendar continue, open air excursions to discover fascinating but less known corners of the territory. The itineraries of this weekend allow to deepen the knowledge of Etruscan places and appreciate the colors and scents that only the autumn season can give. On Sunday, with departure from Giovi at 15.30, the excursion “Pieve a Sietina e le Terre Barbaritane” starts, a route immersed in the Arezzo countryside along ancient roads, embellished by parish churches and abbeys. At 15.30 starts also the trekking “Excursion to the Cross of Pratomagno” which climbs the ridge of Pratomagno to admire a mountain landscape of rare beauty. Also on Sunday, at 3pm, “Autumn and winter horse rides“, an experience where you can discover the magic and the colors of the wood in autumn riding a horse. New Oil Days
Saturday 27 and Sunday, November 28 Castiglion Fiorentino celebrates the new oil. For an entire weekend the green gold will be the undisputed protagonist in the territory of Valdichiana, with tastings and themed menus in local restaurants, an opportunity for gourmets to appreciate the production 2021.
