New weekend coming with many stimulating events that invite you to discover the city of Arezzo and its territory. Photography, art and history with guided tours, experiences in nature, and again appointments with the researchers’ night, books in the square and classical music for a weekend to be experienced.

Photo Antiques Fair in Arezzo

A paradise for those who love vintage photography: on Sunday 26 September in Arezzo the appointment with Photo Antiques Fair returns, the historic exhibition-market of cameras, cameras and antique photographic equipment, an unmissable event for enthusiasts and collectors. From 9 am to 5 pm, at the Logge Vasari overlooking the Renaissance Piazza Grande, over 30 exhibitors from all over Italy will be the protagonists who will give life to a unique market exhibition.
Here it will be possible to buy or exchange used or discontinued analog and digital equipment and you can move in search of rare and unobtainable pieces to enrich your collection or to repair an ancient camera.
A section dedicated to the sale of postcards, books and various photographic publications is unmissable.

Free guided tours to discover Arezzo

The calendar of guided tours with free participation that leads to the discovery of the city of Arezzo closes with this weekend. On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th September, six city tours with guaranteed departure and accompanied by tourist guides are scheduled, which will allow you to get to know the city, lesser-known places, and get passionate about stories of places and characters.

Roar of the deer. Evening excursions

In the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests there is a calendar of excursions dedicated to listening to the “Roar of the deer”, the strong call of adult males during the mating period. With expert environmental guides, on Saturday and Sunday you can participate in excursions in the forest to get excited at dusk and in the early evening by living this “natural experience”, in one of the most important areas of Italy for deer populations. On Saturday 25 September, more excursions are scheduled with departures from Camaldoli, Badia Prataglia (Poppi) and Stia. Sunday 26 September in the afternoon excursion departing from Stia. The weekend also offers the opportunity to participate in events on the roar of the deer for two days with an overnight stay in a refuge in the Casentinesi Forests.

The European Researchers’ Night and Heritage Days

Over the weekend we celebrate the Researchers’ Night, an initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005 that involves thousands of researchers and research institutions every year, with the aim of creating opportunities for meetings between researchers and citizens to spread scientific culture and Heritage Days. Among the appointments in the Arezzo area in San Giovanni Valdarno on Friday 24 September, the “Let’s play on Earth” workshop with demonstrations and interactive games that allow you to get to know the planet Earth better, curated by the GeoTechnology Center of the University of Siena, at 9.30 pm the concert of Lorenzo Baglioni in Piazza Masaccio, while on Saturday 25 September at 4.30 pm the meeting with Professor Mauro Ferrari is scheduled for the conference – concert “Science, music and sport: three ways to be at the service of the community”, accompanied by his Rhythm & Blues Band.
In Arezzo on Friday 24 September at 5.30 pm, the Ivan Bruschi Antiques House Museum offers a free appointment to discover and deepen the restoration recently carried out on the volume “Liber Statutorum Arretii”, the only sixteenth-century edition printed in Arezzo, dated 1536 and part of the collection Bruschi.
The National Archaeological Museum “Gaio Cilnio Mecenate” organizes an event for lovers of ancient coins on Saturday 25 September at 4.30 pm with the extraordinary opening of the ancient coin cabinet kept in the museum.

One, No One and One Hundred Thousand: the books are the protagonists

Castiglion Fiorentino hosts a new edition of ” One, No One and One Hundred Thousand”, the initiative that has the book as its protagonist and which transforms the city’s squares into open-air bookstores. For the whole day of Saturday 25 September, each place in the historic center will have a theme based on the genre of the books hosted: in piazza del Collegio children’s fiction, in piazza dello Stillo art, history and science, in piazza del Municipio Italian fiction and abroad, in the charming piazzale del Cassero, local history books will be distributed and sold.
Performances of painting, sculpture and theater enrich the appointment in the historic center.

Terre in Festival

The last two appointments for the “Terre in Festival”, the festival that in the months of August and September animated the municipalities of Valtiberina with music and theater events. At the Auditorium of Santa Chiara in Sansepolcro starting at 9.15 pm, on Friday 24 September, the concert “Mozart’s Requiem” performed by the vocal-instrumental ensemble of the Perugia Conservatory and produced in collaboration with the Centro Studi Musicali Valtiberina is scheduled. Sunday 26 September closing of the festival with the show “A tea for two queens” the story of two brilliant women who have built and decided the fate of contemporary art in the United States and in Italy: Peggy Guggenheim and Palma Bucarelli interpreted by Caterina Casini and Marilù Prati directed by Francesco Suriano.

Time Travel Experience

The Time Travel Experience program continues this weekend as well, offering the unmissable opportunity to discover the history, traditions and lifestyles of this land. Friday 24 September “Discovering Watercolor”, a workshop to learn about this ancient Renaissance technique and the secrets of the great masters and their wonderful works. Saturday 25th September “Master craftsmen at the museum” with a ceramic handicraft workshop and visit to the archaeological museum “Gaio Cilnio Mecenate” Archaeological Museum in Arezzo.
