Fattoria di San Leo is one of the oldest farms in the Arezzo, Tuscany area. Today San Leo is a hamlet of the bigger city that incorporated this small rural village located in the outskirts of Arezzo, on the northern border of the plain where the last part of the main Chiana canal runs before flowing into the Arno.
The cultivated vines and the techniques respect an ancient rural tradition that is typical of Central Tuscany, and the wine that is produced is the result of a simple process based on traditional and natural methods. The grapes, including Sangiovese, Malvasia, Trebbiano and Ciliegiolo, are organically grown, crushed and left to ferment naturally. They are then “governed” with fresh must and left in oak barrels to mature without any additives. Then, after a mechanical stabilisation and filtration process, the wine is bottled.
