Tenuta di Scrafana is located in the hills of Montevarchi. It has historically had an agricultural and viticultural purpose. With 50 hectares of land, 20 of which are vineyards, the estate is also home to some 300 olive trees and an orchard with historical varieties. Located in an area where there was a lake in the Pleistocene period, the estate’s soil ranges from sandy-loam to sandy-clay, more or less deep and always with a skeletal structure. This soil diversity together with the hilly position and the microclimate, which has significant temperature variations day to night, all contribute to a diversified and high quality production.
The symbol chosen for the estate is a prehistoric elephant, which pays homage to the history and culture of the area and the city of Montevarchi. The company is focused on producing high quality grapes using sustainable techniques. The grapes are harvested by hand and then vinified using a variety of materials, including steel, wood and concrete, with a carefully controlled maturation and ageing process that enhances the distinctive characteristics of the wines.
Finally, the estate is committed to promoting biodiversity, cultivating not only vines but also fruit trees and olive trees, and maintaining natural habitats that are vital to all living things.
