In the Valdarno area that stretches between Pratomagno and Chianti Classico, as far as Valdambra valley, in that magic triangle that is Arezzo, Florence and Siena, the vineyards that unfurl parallel to the flow of the Arno river have the best conditions to give life to fine wines such as Chianti DOCG, which is pure Sangiovese or a mix of Sangiovese and native vines or, to a limited extent, various international vines. Valdarno di Sopra DOC, white, sparkling white, rosé, sparkling rosé and red wine, is also produced here. It is made from Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah, Malvasia bianca lunga and Trebbiano Toscano grapes. The Valdarno di Sopra DOC, recognised by the Ministry in 2011, is now a top wine thanks to the awareness that the area’s producers have regarding the valorisation and protection of the territory where it is made, and also thanks to the great quality of the product, which is now known and loved internationally.
