Il Borro

Tenuta Il Borro is a vast agricultural domain extending over seven hundred hectares in the picturesque region of Tuscany, more precisely in the Upper Valdarno, an area that is a veritable treasure trove of biodiversity and natural beauty. Since 2015, Tenuta Il Borro has embraced an organic approach. The effort began in 2012, converting the 45 hectares of vineyards to sustainable agriculture.
The variety of crops is remarkable and well balanced: the vineyards cover 45 hectares, while 40 hectares are olive groves, 180 are fodder and annual crops such as grains, and 2 hectares are set aside for growing organic vegetables. The remaining land is covered by woody areas, contributing to maintaining a healthy forest ecosystem as well as the biodiversity of the landscape.
Il Borro’s vineyards are located at altitudes ranging from 300 to 500 metres above sea level. They benefit from climate and soil that are particularly favourable to viticulture. These unique soil and climate conditions are the key to producing high quality wines. The grape varieties selected for cultivation range from native types such as Sangiovese, the beating heart of wines in Tuscany, to more international varieties that are now well-rooted in the “Tuscan tradition”, such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
These different grape varieties coexist and adapt beautifully to the variability of the estate’s soils, resulting in wines that are a harmonious co-mingling of tradition and innovation. With an annual production of around 250,000 bottles, Il Borro is not only an example of sustainable and responsible agriculture, but it also represents a model of excellence in Italian wine production.
