Madonna del Parto Museum

Madonna del Parto is one of the highest expressions of the Renaissance. The >Virgin Mary is pregnant and, standing in the centre of a canopy of precious brocade, shows herself to those who look at her.

She is positioned on the side, so that her pregnancy is even more evident and with her right hand she caresses her belly, with a gesture of modesty and protection but also of conscious pride. Her eyes are lowered on her belly, but her expression almost seems to presage the fate of the son she carries in her womb. Two angels, symmetrical and mirrored in colours and design, with a decisive and quick gesture open the tent of the canopy so that the faithful can contemplate the Virgin, majestic, solemn and at the same time humble, with the left hand resting on the side and the robe slightly removed.
