How many times have you thought of a fir forest where you can feel immersed in the enchantment of an emerald green? A place that seems to exist only in your imagination… but it is right here, in the forest guarded for centuries by the Camaldolese monks in the heart of the Casentinesi Forests National Park. At about 1100 meters above sea level, a hermitage immersed in the boundless green of the millenary forest, surrounded by solitary paths where silence is interrupted only by the sounds of luxuriant nature! Starting from here, our journey will take us to the borders of the wild Sasso Fratino Integral Reserve, whose marvelous ancient beech woods are now Unesco Heritage. At the end of our excursion we will be able to visit the famous Hermitage with the suggestive Cell of San Romualdo and the baroque church dated back in the eighteenth century. A place where time seems to have stopped, protected by its enchanted forest.
You will meet your tour guide, who deeply knows Casentino area, and you will have the possibility to refresh yourself, and to buy local products for your picnic or just a panino before your tour beginning.
You will start your hike trought the National Park of Casentinesi Forests, where walking in nature here becomes an extraordinary experience! The itinerary is easy and suitable for families, but minimum practice is required. The trail is about 10 km long and there is an elevation change of approx. 450mt. There will be a break to let you rest and enjoy your picnic or packed lunch. At the end of the tour you will be able to visit the famous Hermitage and the baroque church.
You will say goodbye to your guide and return to your accommodation.
