"Village of Christmas" will enliven the city of Sansepolcro from Dec. 8 to 26

On Thursday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. the illuminations in the Old Town will be turned on, a starry sky will light up over the square. From there, the Christmas Village will wind its way along Via Matteotti, consisting of 17 wooden cottages where it will be possible to find many gift ideas for the holidays now just around the corner, as well as typical products to enjoy.

At 7 p.m. lighting of the tree at Porta Fiorentina.

The Village will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 8-11, 16-18 and Dec. 23-26 and is the result of a very important collaboration network involving artisans, merchants and shopkeepers in the area who have practically doubled their activities by bringing their best products to the center. Thus, it will be possible to warm up with a good mulled wine or enjoy small delicacies made by local chefs and pastry chefs, buy unique handicrafts to give as gifts or treat yourself, all in an atmosphere that will envelop the historic center as never before.

Also on Dec. 8, the 3rd Exhibition of Nativity Art organized by the Accademia Enogastronomica della Valtiberina will be inaugurated.The exhibition will be set up in the splendid setting of the Chiesa dei Servi and will remain on view until Jan. 6, exhibiting nativity works belonging to artists from the Valtiberina.

On Friday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. there will be opening of the exhibition “The Color Within,” Francesco Dindelli 1917-1986, the gaze of a 20th century artist. Venue for the exhibition, which will be open to the public from Dec. 10 through Jan. 8, is Palazzo Alberti at 46 Via XX Settembre.

On Dec. 10 at 5 p.m., the doors of the church of Santa Marta will open where the BIG Nativity scene of the Società Rionale di Porta Romana is being set up, this year titled “Among servants and lords Jesus is born.”

The hamlet of Gricignano this year has organized an atmospheric Living Nativity that will be on view from 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 26 and Jan. 1 and 6, 2023.

Throughout the holidays, the historic center will also be enlivened by various initiatives designed and implemented by the many local associations to involve young and old alike.

Culture is also the protagonist of Christmas, the Civic Museum in fact has scheduled some evening openings to allow people to experience the City’s art at its best even at unusual hours.

Guided tours of the House of Piero della Francesca also continue.

The Spazio Bernardini-Fatti Museo della Vetrata, since November, has organized a series of appointments dedicated to those who want to learn more about the art of glass and its history.

Also speaking of culture on December 24 in the Exhibition Hall of Palazzo Pretorio will be inaugurated as usual the Borgo Artists Group Exhibition that will be open until January 6.
