Valdarno Jazz Festival 40th edition

Eight evenings of music for the festival spread over the territory that will embrace the municipalities of Terranuova Bracciolini, San Giovanni Valdarno, Loro Ciuffenna and Figline Valdarno.

The Valdarno Jazz Festival is back, the event spread over the territory between Florence and Arezzo that brings jazz stars to Tuscany but also looks to young talent.
For the first time in Europe, the Peter Erskine Quartet – a line-up led by the legendary drummer of Weather Report, a band that symbolises the fusion movement, where he played together with Jaco Pastorius, a true icon of the bass guitar – will be appearing. The patrol of international stars is completed with another hero of the four strings, Dave Holland, over 50 years of career behind him, an unspecified number of Grammys won and a series of collaborations of absolute level, including Stan Getz and Miles Davis. The Valdarno Jazz Young, the evenings dedicated to young talents to be enhanced, showcases the Young Jazz trio of Giovanni Benvenuti, the Lorenzo Simoni Quartet and the aforementioned Giovanni Paolo Liguori, who with his quartet will inaugurate this 40th edition. The programme is rounded off with concerts by the Selene Zuppardo trio, Rita Marcotulli’s piano solo and the presentation of the new work by the festival’s artistic co-director Daniele Malvisi entitled ‘Io sono un albero’.
