Tovaglia a Quadri

Tovaglia a Quadri is an open-air tavern where every year people take part live in a village story interpreted by local people, amid authentic memories and local myths

The event takes place in a location full of ancient history and recent stories, the Sorci Castle, with its noble courtyard, between the small church and the ancient bastion. A special place for a special edition, bringing together new actors and ancient inhabitants of Tovaglia a Quadri.
The formula remains the same: tables set with classic checkered tablecloths and local ingredients from the Apennine tradition, curated by the experienced chefs of Sorci Castle and the historic La Nena Restaurant in Anghiari.

The title of this year’s story is “Pregnanxiety”: No more Primo, Secondo, Terzo, Quartilio, Quinto, Sisto and Settimio (the imaginative names in numerical order from the first born to the seventh child)… Where have those gaggles of kids gone, those ‘children from the stables’ who once filled the farmyards, the stairways in the town square and the courtyard of the Castle? Where are the nippers (citti) today?
