Programme
Meeting at 19:00 – Introductory meeting on the roaring of deer in love and the physiology of deer in the Casentino National Forest Park – buffet dinner
9:30 p.m. Astronomical evening with background music of bramiti.
In the Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi Monte Falterona e Campigna the biological clock of the elaphus deer marks each season with a precise ritual: September is the period of mating, tight courtship accompanied by loud bramiti and “antler-to-horn” clashes.
From mid-September to mid-October, throughout the Park’s territory, it is possible to hear the bramiti, mighty calls uttered by male deer: every valley, every mountain slope is home to at least one deer trying to mark out its territory in the face of the overbearing other deer and aiming to create a harem of females large enough
