Terre d’Arezzo Music Festival takes place from Thursday 8 July 2021 to end Sunday 22 August 2021 and will host the Arezzo Organ Festival as usual.
The main events of the Festival
Inauguration Thursday 8 July 2021, with the solo recital by Andrea Trova on the piano, dedicated to Chopin and the presentation of the new CD by the Maestro, “Reflets de l’âme”, published by Da Vinci Classics (Sansepolcro, Cloister of the Cathedral).
This is followed by the concert of the Hyperion Ensemble, Friday 9 July, with “Homage to Astor Piazzolla” on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Argentine master who reinvented the tango genre (Terranuova Bracciolini, Piazza della Liberazione).
For the “Notti di Note” series of the Municipality of Capolona, the concert “Visioni d’utore” with the Armoniensemble Guiter Trio (15 July, Capolona, Loc. Pieve S. Giovanni).
The highlight of the Festival, the show “The Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saens, on the 100th anniversary of his death (July 16, San Giovanni Valdarno, Piazza Masaccio).
On Sunday 18 July the series of concerts dedicated to organ music will begin, with the Organ Recital by Franz Hauk, from Germany (Arezzo, Cathedral of Saints Peter and Donato).
On July 30, for the Notti di Note series, the Variable Ensemble presents “Chamber Opera”, dedicated to chamber arias and operas with soprano, clarinet and piano (Capolona, Piazza di Castelluccio).
On July 31, for the “Music in the Cloister” series, concert by the Hegel Trio, dedicated to Tuscan composers from the 1700s to today (Arezzo, Cloister of the Palazzo Comunale).
On August 3, instead, an appointment dedicated to Jazz, with the “Gradus Jazz Trio”, in Bucine, Località Perelli.
Another important event is that of 6 August at Piazza Masaccio in San Giovanni Valdarno “Comdìa, in una selva oscura”, dedicated to Dante. The Chagall Quartet is the protagonist, in a show that includes music, acting and images.
Two appointments preceded by an “aperitif” with reservations required: 10 August (Residenza il Verreno, Bucine) with the Tango of the Hyperion Quartet and 15 August (Chiostro di Cennano, Montevarchi), with jazz music by the Piero Gaddi Jazz Quartet.
On 21 August, at the “Fineschi” Botanical Rose Garden in Cavriglia, “Fiati all’Opera”, with the Bazzini Consort Wind Quintet.
Closing concert of the Festival, Sunday 22 August, at the Church of S. Bartolomeo in Badia al Pino (Civitella in Val di Chiana), concert “Birds”, with Ieva Nimane, flutes and bagpipes, from Latvia, and Markku Makinen, organist from Finland.
All concerts start at 9.15 pm and are free admission subject to availability, reservations are recommended.
