Stia European Biennial Show of Blacksmithing Art

The event is a landmark in the world panorama of forging art and attracts the best forging artists, apprentices and enthusiasts from all over the world.

The event dedicated to forging and wrought iron has been held regularly since 1976, and Stia has always opened its doors to both masters and young blacksmiths from all over the world, earning international recognition as an ‘Event Without Frontiers’, an undisputed showcase for high quality wrought iron craftsmanship. Artisans and wrought-iron artists display all their creativity in stands inside the former wool factory and outdoors in some of the town’s squares.
This event is flanked by a number of initiatives including “La Mostra Mercato” and “The World Forging Championship”, where masters of craftsmanship and the art of forging from all over the world compete in front of a large and attentive audience in the creation of artistic iron objects that will first be exhibited and then voted on to elect the winning work.
This event is flanked by a number of initiatives, including “The Pier Luigi della Bordella International Design and Drawing Competition”, “The International Sculpture Competition”, “The Rossana Molinatti Photography Competition”, the “Lanificio Spazio Vuoto_Incubatore di Idee” exhibition space, a series of Forging Workshops for children, a considerable programme of conferences and meetings, a series of e-Bike excursions to discover the Casentino territory, and evening musical performances.
