Guided tour to discover herbs with antiseptic and antibacterial properties
On the eve of the day dedicated to Saint Rocco, protector against the plague, a guided tour will unveil the herbs with antiseptic and antibacterial properties, as well as the alembics and distillers used for preparing “acqua da ardere” (burning water), considered a panacea for all illnesses, especially to eradicate the divine “scourge.” The essences exhibited in the rooms of Aboca Museum will narrate how major epidemics such as the plague, typhus, and smallpox were fought with every means, including the humble local herbs.
