What is the F.A.C.? The FAC, whose acronym stands for Ferrovia Appennino Centrale (Central Apennine Railway) was a narrow-gauge railway line that connected Arezzo to Fossato di Vico, active from August 15, 1886 (inaugural trip) to 1944.
The main purpose of the railway was to connect the two most important railway lines of central Italy: Florence/Rome and Rome/Ancona.
The stretch Aretino represented and still represents the most characteristic with 20 of the 23 tunnels present in the 134 km of total development of the railway.
