Palio of the Crossbow

In the charming setting of Piazza Torre di Berta, enclosed between the Renaissance buildings of Sansepolcro, the historic dispute takes place

According to ancient customs, in the morning, the herald reads the challenge proclamation to the rivals from Gubbio. In the afternoon, after the blessing of the weapons, the crossbowmen from Sansepolcro and Gubbio enter the square announced by the roll of drums and the sound of trumpets. The marksmen from both cities take turns on the shooting stands, and the square relives the magic of ancient jousts.
