During this pleasant hike, we will walk on comfortable white tracks through well-cultivated fields and an area shaped by the work of the Arno.

Further information

This is the so-called ‘terre barbaritane’ or ‘barbarian lands’, that portion of territory between Arezzo and the Casentino where, at the beginning of the year 1000, the imprint of the Germanic populations that had settled in these places in previous centuries was still strong. Halfway along the route we will stop to admire the splendid frescoes of the Pieve di Santa Maria a Sietina (guided tour) whose interior has been so well restored that it now appears in all its splendour. These include the striking St Mary Magdalene covered in a superb wave of golden hair.
