JOTC Open orchestra feat. Daniele Malvisi, directed by Francesco Giustini
Formed in 2020 and composed of young talents from Central Italy and experienced professionals, the JOTC Open Orchestra represents one of the very few realities in the national jazz scene dedicated to the project of jazz orchestral music. Directed by trumpeter Francesco Giustini, the orchestra is driven by the concept of “openness” in all its forms, starting from repertoire, style, and formation.
At the end of 2022, the JOTC recorded its first album, “Mo’ Joe,” dedicated to a great composer and performer in jazz history, saxophonist Joe Henderson (1937-2001). Considered one of the most original voices in the entire history of jazz, Henderson was able to interpret the flow of changes both as a soloist and as a composer, always in search of authenticity and his own path. Enriching “Mo’ Joe” is the valuable contribution of an exceptional soloist, Daniele Malvisi (tenor sax), perhaps the Italian tenor player who best understands the music, style, and ideas of Joe Henderson.
