La Marzocchina ciclostorica

La Marzocchina is a leisure ride on vintage bicycles and in wool jerseys through the historic centres and countryside of the Valdarno

The historic cycling event “La Marzocchina” returns in 2026 with its 14th edition, confirming itself as a true celebration on two wheels, combining sport, passion, landscape and conviviality. A group ride on vintage bicycles through the historic centres and countryside of the Valdarno, along white roads, panoramic routes and places rich in history.

This year’s edition offers three routes of 27, 43 and 78 km, designed both for those who wish to enjoy a pleasant excursion and for more trained cyclists. The routes cross villages, hills and landscapes of great charm, rediscovering the valley between Arezzo and Florence through the slow and authentic rhythm of historic cycling.

One of the most distinctive elements of the 2026 edition will be the passage through the Santa Barbara mining area, between the territories of Cavriglia and Figline e Incisa Valdarno, with unpaved routes closed to traffic. Participants in the medium and long routes will also cross the Chianti hills, passing through Gaville, Ponte agli Stolli, Palagina and the white roads of Tenuta Il Palagio.

The longest route will also offer the opportunity to ride along the Strada Setteponti, one of the most evocative itineraries in the Valdarno, between Reggello, Pian di Scò, Castelfranco di Sopra, Terranuova Bracciolini and Loro Ciuffenna. All routes will end in San Giovanni Valdarno with the finish and final refreshment stop by Dario Cecchini.

For the whole weekend, San Giovanni Valdarno will be the heart of the event, with side initiatives, moments dedicated to participants and guided tours of the city museums, also designed for accompanying families. An opportunity to experience the historic centre, discover the city’s artistic treasures and take part in an event that promotes the territory through sport, slow tourism and local flavours.
