From 12 April, the traditional and evocative rite of the night-time processions during Holy Week in Castiglion Fiorentino is renewed. The various Companies (Compagnia S. Antonio, dressed in white; Buona Morte, dressed in black and Compagnia del Gesù in blue), which were formed between the 16th and 17th centuries, parade with their hoods and buffa on their faces through the main streets of the town, behind the "crucifers", carrying life-size wooden simulacra representing a moment in the Passion of Jesus.

The first procession is scheduled for Tuesday, 12 April at 9.15 p.m., starting from the Church of San Francesco, Compagnia di Sant’Antonio, and is called the procession of “Jesus arrested in the garden” because of the wooden simulacrum that is carried in the procession. On the following day, there is the procession of Jesus tied to the column, Compagnia della Buona morte, which always starts from the Church of San Francesco and always at 9.15 pm. On Friday, 15 April, the procession of the Dead Jesus, Company of the Jesus, starts from the Collegiate Church. The next day at midnight, the traditional “volata” with the statue of the Risen Christ will take place at the Collegiate Church. With the end of the health emergency, no special security measures are planned, but crowds should be avoided.
