On the initiative of the Regional Council of Tuscany, the Day of the Etruscans is celebrated on 27 August of each year, to commemorate the conferral of the title of Grand Duke of Tuscany to the Duke of Florence Cosimo I, which took place on 27 August 1569 with a papal bull by Pius V. That title, new and unusual in those years, placed Cosimo I and his successors at a level of prestige that no other Italian prince could have boasted, officially extending their government from the city of Florence to the territory that belonged to the Etruscans.

On the day of September 25th at the Piazzale del Cassero in Castiglion Fiorentino, appointments will be held in which the Archaeologist of the Superintendence of Cultural and Landscape Heritage and the Representative of the Lions Clubs Host Valdarno will participate, who has contributed over time to finance the excavation activity . On the occasion, videos and photos of both excavation and promotion activities carried out by the association in recent years will be screened. On the same day, workshops will be held for adults (in the morning) and for children (in the afternoon) held by experimental archaeologists on clay working techniques (ceramics: bucchero) and Etruscan writing, painting: portrait and its function, weaving, leather processing and goldsmithing. All activities will be carried out in Etruscan costume.
