Orchestral, choral and chamber music emanates from every square, church and cloister during the Anghiari Festival. Every July, the Southbank Sinfonia of London – an orchestra of exceptional young talent from all over the world – settles in the town for a week of enthralling performances.
Anghiari Festival will have a very special start: at dawn, next Saturday 15th July, on the occasion of “La Via del Sole” (The Way of the Sun) when at 6 a.m. the sun rises behind the mountains, aligning itself perfectly with the main street of the town. From that moment on, and for a whole week, orchestral, choral and chamber music will spread from every square, church and cloister during the Anghiari Festival. This is all thanks to the Southbank Sinfonia of London, an orchestra of exceptional young talents from all over the world, who for one week and for more than twenty years have settled in Anghiari giving enthralling performances.
The Southbank Sinfonia is a unique orchestra that provides graduate musicians from all over the world with the necessary springboard to professional activity.
Each year its members undergo an extensive nine-month intensive programme aimed at developing professional and performing skills. This includes collaboration with top artistic organisations such as the Royal Opera House and acclaimed artists such as Antonio Pappano and Vladimir Ashkenazy.
Artistic Director of the Festival, Simon Over is also co-founder and Music Director of the Southbank Sinfonia.
